On this page a photo gallery of my trip to Santorini in July 2023
I try to divide everything by locality in order to facilitate the understanding of the places.

Oia
I start from Oia because I've been here twice: the first with an incredible crowd (and taking pictures was impossible!), the second in the morning at dawn as befits a good photographer.
It is one of the most beautiful and visited villages of Santorini and, for this reason, try to get there at times when there is not too much crowd...
I think the photos speak for themselves.
This place is truly spectacular!
Boats, marches, mills, white houses, stairs, churches, bells, blue domes and colors everywhere.

Emporio
Emporio, on the other hand, was the only village I was able to visit calmly and in the middle of the afternoon.
Extraordinarily beautiful, ignored by the great masses of tourists, but full of labyrinthine streets and stairways that make it fascinating, fresh and intriguing.
My favorite among all the villages in Santorini.
No doubt!

Imerovigli
Imerovigli is truly spectacular.
Perhaps the most beautiful village of Santorini with all the white houses overlooking the sea on the Caldera.
For this reason, early in the morning you will already find many photo agencies and private photographers intent on photographing tourist couples or dozens of girls with long colorful dresses fluttering above the white roofs of the houses of Imerovigli.
Apart from that Imerovigli is full of many beautiful things to see, photograph and admire...just try not to arrive with the crowds...

Pyrgos
Pyrgos is a magnificent white village of Santorini not overwhelmed by mass tourism.
The car rental guy, as soon as he saw the bag with the Canon and the lenses, immediately told me to go to Pyrgos, that I would find so many beautiful things to photograph...
He wasn't wrong!
There is so much beauty here...
Just be prepared to take a few steps and some ups and downs...
But it's worth it!

Akrotiri
Akrotiri is the village that hosted me during my trip to Santorini.
It is completely decentralized from everything, but it is very nice, it has everything the average traveler needs (restaurants, hotels, supermarket, etc.).
The first photo on the left is of a small church that I discovered on the penultimate day a few kilometers from the center of the village.
You walk along a dirt road in the direction of a beach isolated from everything and at one point a dog appears that seems very ferocious!
The doubt that arises is to decide whether to try to pass (at which point the blue dome of the church already begins to be seen) at one's own risk, or to go back giving up the walk.
In reality, the dog does nothing but stand aside inside his large cage overhanging the ravine and nothing happens (he won't even be there when I return).

Megalochiri
I discovered Megalorichi by accident as I saw the road sign with directions along the way.
it is a very nice village and, even here you will find some restaurants where you can stop and eat...
Worth a trip for a visit...

Monolithos
Monolithos, on the other hand, has a very special story: I went there as soon as I arrived because I wanted to see the sea of Santorini right away.
Then I returned after a few hours to replace the rental car because the first one had some problems and finally I returned to take these pictures at dawn a few days later.
It's a bit far from where I was staying, but if you want to get up early in the morning, enjoy the sunrise over the marina and maybe stop for breakfast in one of the many bakeries on your way back to your hotel, this could be an idea.
Then, with your eyes full of beautiful things and a full belly, you can always go to sleep on the beach, by the pool or wherever you prefer until lunch...
This is also a nice relaxing photo trip!

Perissa
Perissa, like Monolithos, is on the "right" side of Santorini to watch the sunrise in the morning.
It doesn't have the typical white village but there is still the church and the bell tower.
For the rest it develops on the seafront with beach and many restaurants, bars and shops...
Perissa can certainly be ideal for an evening tour (if you can park without too much stress).

Fira
I stayed in Fira just long enough to take some pictures early in the morning.
The open-air dump left by the tourists the night before is the worst you can see in a small village that is perhaps overcrowded.
But the donkeys loaded with bags of rubbish and the many workers already awake very early in the morning show how Greece cares about its tourists.
Although not very civil towards this divine place..
That's all...
